SILVER BELLS…COWBOY STYLE

Christmas means many things, but to almost anyone … it’s all about the memories. One fond memory is of the wonderful music associated with it. Bandera, the Cowboy Capital of the World, offers a month filled with musical memories cowboy style and fun and unique shopping experiences as well.

Friday of December 2nd, 2011 - 4:30 pm Courthouse Lawn: Enjoy beautiful lights and the sweet sound of children’s voices as choirs bring us their version of what makes Christmas special. A Living Nativity is provided by the students of Pipe Creek Christian School. Stick around for a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Bandera Merchants will be open until 9:00 p.m. for unique and fascinating shopping opportunities while the streets are filled with Christmas Carolers, musicians and Cowboys.

Saturday December 3rd, 2011 - 11am The Bandera Chamber of Commerce hosts the Christmas Parade. Bring your lawn chair and watch as the many beautifully decorated floats go by.

5:00 pm - Join in the celebration at the Cowboy Capital Campfire in Bandera’s City Park on the beautiful Medina River. Enjoy amazing displays of Christmas lights, Cowboy Story Tellers and the soothing vocal styling of local Cowboy Singers.

At dark The Bandera Riverside Players will display the precious story of Christmas that brings cause for all of this musical celebration. This Living Nativity is beautifully spotlighted against the banks of the Medina River. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy hot chocolate and cookies and afterwards stroll through the massive display of over a hundred lighted Christmas trees and displays.

December 10th, 2011, - The Longhorn Saloon will feature the annual Christmas Singing in the Saddle event. Bring your horse or rent one from the Longhorn Saloon for Christmas caroling down Main Street. A chuck wagon with hot chocolate and cookies will be awaiting the participants at the end of the ride.

Following the ride, join Bandera’s Helping Hand Center at 6:00 p.m. for a Children’s Christmas Carnival hosted by the Spirits of Christmas featuring fun holiday games like rope the reindeer and dress the gingerbread men! Special time for children to shop the center for gifts for their parents!

Also at 6:00 p.m. you can join the Christmas Celebration of the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. The event will include Aztec Dancers followed by a special Mariachi Mass.

December 17th, 2011 - Visit Bandera for the last performance of the year by the Frontier Times Museum’s Cowboys on Main Living History Project. Singers’ and trick ropers will perform between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
